WHY SUPPORT FSA/SF?
"It is not sufficient to say, 'I am doing the best I can.' Your best is useless unless it adequately cares for the situation."
-- Katharine "Kitty" Felton, Founder
For more than 100 years, Family Service Agency of San Francisco has maintained our unwavering commitment to meet a wide array of social-service needs for all San Franciscans. Our nationally recognized programs range from substance-abuse treatment to teen-pregnancy prevention, from peer-counseling services for the homebound elderly to early education for developmentally challenged children, from programs addressing the mental-health challenges of HIV/AIDS to domestic-violence prevention education for adolescent boys and girls.
At the heart of our mission is the belief that individuals and families in crisis must have access to services and resources that help them build on their inherent strengths and enduring true self-sufficiency. We promote this access by welcoming all who can benefit, regardless of their ability to pay. We offer an encyclopedic array of services, including programs for:
- Children and Youth
- Teen Parents and their Siblings
- Families in Crisis
- Adults
- Seniors
- Individuals with HIV/AIDS
- Mentally Ill, Abused, and Disabled Individuals
This year, Family Service Agency of San Francisco will serve more than 16,000 clients through dozens of programs in eleven languages at sites throughout the City. Our programs have garnered national recognition, and our ability to develop and deliver culturally appropriate services has earned us the highest possible ratings from San Francisco's Department of Public Health.
Our unbroken history of exemplary community service arises from our determination to care for the people of San Francisco and from the unflagging generosity of the San Franciscans who support our work.
Today, FSA is the oldest nonsectarian, nonprofit charitable human services provider in San Francisco. Responding to seismic historical and social shifts over more than a century, FSA has maintained its unwavering commitment to the health and safety of children, youth, families, fragile adults, the elderly, and the city's neighborhoods.
Central to our work is the belief that individuals and families in crisis must have access to services and resources to help them build on their inherent strength and develop self-sufficiency. We promote this access by welcoming all who can benefit, regardless of their ability to pay.
