Albert C. Gilbert, III, Chief Financial Officer

Al Gilbert joined FSA as Chief Financial Officer in October 2004, after having served as a consultant to the organization for several years. During his tenure on behalf of FSA, Mr. Gilbert has made significant improvements in the organization’s operating budget and negotiated over $1 million in new grants and contributions.

Mr. Gilbert brings uncommon depth and breadth to his work as Chief Financial Officer at FSA. Prior to joining FSA, he founded and served as Managing Partner for Entrepren, a business consultancy, where for nearly twenty years he offered a wide variety of consultancy services, including fiscal and operational management, strategic planning, crisis management, auditing, and systems re-engineering.

Mr. Gilbert has also held key management positions with a number of companies in the Bay Area. He served as Chief Financial Officer of SongPro.com; as Chief Operating Officer for Colossal Graphics; as Chief of Fiscal Operations for Oakland Healthy Start; and as Senior Accounting Officer for Bank of America. He also served as the Chief Fiscal Officer for a $35 million managed-healthcare initiative funded by the United States Department of Health & Human Services, for whom he developed an operational infrastructure to ensure fiscal integrity and contact compliance.

Mr. Gilbert serves as the Treasurer for the Board of Directors of TODCO Development Company. He has also served on the Boards of Town School for Boys and the Kiwanis International, and has been Board President of Art, Research and Curriculum, Inc.

Mr. Gilbert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ohio State University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Indiana University. He lives with his wife and son in the East Bay.
